6th Annual Pluto Discovery Anniversary Special Event (W7P)
ATTENTION ARIZONA HAMS—YOU’RE INVITED
Come join us for the 6th Annual Pluto Discovery Anniversary Special Event (W7P) at Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff, February 14th-22nd.
This is one of the most unique operating opportunities in Arizona, and we’d love to have operators from clubs across the state on the air with us. We’ll be running three full stations—SSB, CW, and FT‑8—set up right In front of the award‑winning Marley Astronomy Discovery Center on the Lowell campus. You’ll be operating just steps away from the historic Pluto Discovery Telescope dome, where Clyde Tombaugh made history in 1930.
A heated 20‑foot communications trailer will be on site to keep everyone comfortable, with plenty of room and easy access for operators. You’re welcome to operate a few hours or the entire week—whatever fits your schedule.
To sign up or get more details, contact:
Bob Wertz, NF7E – Pluto Special Event Coordinator – 928‑600‑6813
Mike Hanks, W7QS – President, Northern Arizona DX Association – 928‑606‑4437
And here’s a bonus: If you operate at least 4 hours with us at Lowell Observatory, we’ll set you up as a W7P/P operator, allowing you to continue operating from your home QTH for the remainder of the 9‑day event.
We’d love to see operators from every Arizona club represented. Come be part of a truly memorable event and help us make this the best Pluto celebration yet.
73,
Bob Wertz, NF7E
